What is PHPP?

The Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) is one of the most powerful design tools available for designing high-performing buildings such as Passive House buildings. . The 2D Microsoft Excel based tool is far quicker than 3D modelling design software, but still has an accuracy of 95%. This makes it an ideal tool for optimising designs economically.

PHPP is a required part of Passive House design and for Passive Houses Building Certifiers. It is a useful tool at all stages of design and planning as the level of detail is gradually built up. At its most basic level, PHPP is a quality check tool without any lobby factors or political factors. It simply applies the laws of physics as well as and geo-location data and local climate aspects. Due to the scientific approach the results are close to reality and can be used to make performance, sustainable, and economical decisions.

About this course

In this two day course you will start with the basics of PHPP and model your first building in PHPP.

This hands-on training is based on the certified Passive House Designer Course material. It includes the overview of the Passive House strategy and Philosophy. During the course worksheet by worksheet of the PHPP will be explained and the learned will be directly implemented into your first Passive House project. On the way you will learn how to optimise and improve your design, make product choices and optimise your building envelope build-ups.

After the course, you will be able to model residential buildings and optimise your designs regarding performance, sustainability and economics.
