What is designPH?

DesignPH is the 3D modelling tool developed by the Passive House Institute to simplify the entry into the PHPP (Passive House Planning Package).
The Passive House 3D modelling tool is a plugin for the popular design software SketchUp. Thanks to simplicity and interactive graphically oriented entry, the needed 3D model for PHPP can be created in a couple of hours that would otherwise take days. DesignPH provides quick performance results that help in the architectural design process. The preliminary simplified energy balance can help with orientation and shape as well as to size windows, overhangs and shading devices.

Thanks to the optimised shading algorithm, designPH can now create accurate shading parameters that can be used by the PHPP.

The simple and easy interface between designPH and PHPP makes designPH the choice of many designers.

About this course

In this one day course you will be introduced to the 3D modelling tool SketchUp and the designPH SketchUp plugin.

We will learn how to setup designPH on SketchUp and create the 3D building model needed for the thermal analytics. Additionally, we will learn how to create the shading devices and how to enter local shading situation. Funder more, we learn how to enter the building elements required for the analytics like, windows, wall assemblies and ventilation systems.

We will also learn how to use the analytic tool of designPH and how to export it to PHPP.
